Fr. R F C Mascarenhas Founded ‘The Congregation of the sisters of Little Flower of Bethany’ on 16th July 1921 at Bendur in Mangalore, in order to reach out the poor and neglected of the society. The dream of the Founder was realized through Bethany Sisters by their involvement in Educational, Pastoral, and Medical Apostolates. Today Bethany has adopted the laity too in its apostolates. Bethany Lay Associate (BLA) Members are motivated to participate in pastoral apostolate of the Institute.
The BLA take Bethany Saints of Gospel fame as their patrons and draw up their spirituality as their basis. Like Bethany Sisters who keep before them the models of Martha and Mary while integrating prayer and service they too reach out to others in service. The inspiring words of the Founder “Do well whatever you do; do it for God and for God alone and your life will be a continual canticle of praise, a continual Gloria Patri.” motivate the members to give their best in their apostolate. The BLA join their hands with the institute in the noble work of spreading God’s kingdom.
Santa Cruz Convent, Kulshekar BLA Unit celebrated their Patron’s day on 28th July, 2019. The Eucharist was officiated by Fr. Alfred Anil D Souza. During the Eucharistic celebration three new members were initiated to BLA by making their commitment who were vested with a badge along with a lighted candle. A short cultural programme was organized after the Mass.
Sr.Roshel presided over the programme; greeted the B L A members and appreciated them for their active involvement in the association and for their generous service. The members expressed their gratefulness towards all.
