Concetta Hospital, Kinnigoly

Concetta Hospital is a public Charitable Trust dedicated itself to the service of the people in and around Kinnigoly in providing medical services, maternity and child care facilities irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The institution bears eloquent testimony to the self sacrificing work done by the pastors, religious sisters and staff under the able guidance of the successive parish priests and Diocesan Bishops.

On 1st September 1986, the management of the hospital was handed over to the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany by Mgr Aloysius D Souza, the parish priest of Kinnigoly. Bishop Rt Rev Dr Basil Salvadore D’Souza, the then Bishop of Mangalore Diocese appointed Sr Lelian BS as the first Directress of the Hospital. Under her leadership the hospital moved in the path of progress. Late Sr Laetitia BS served in this hospital as a pioneer. Sr Jeevitha BS is the present Director of the hospital. Sr Sophia Menezes BS is the Nursing Superintendent of the hospital. The hospital is known for its compassionate care to the ailing brothers and sisters, in imitation of Jesus the Healer.

Sanjivini Community Health Programme: Another important milestone in the history of the hospital is the beginning of Sanjeevini in 1996. It caters to the surrounding villages of Kinnigoly propagating community health, formation of women groups, building self help groups of women and educating them in holistic health. It aims at bringing the economically and socially neglected weaker sections of people to the mainstream of the society. Their main goal is to create healthy people and a healthy society. They create awareness on community health, organize activities and teach varied skills on alternative systems of medicine. Sr Hope BS is the Coordinator of Sanjeevini community Health programme assisted an able health worker, Miss Lalitha.
