The ‘Province Day 2016’ of Mangalore Province was celebrated in a befitting manner at Bethany Provincialate Vamanjoor on 4th December 2016. The day commenced with a note of thankfulness to God for the numerous blessings received on the sisters of the Province through the intercession of Immaculate Conception of Mary our Blessed Mother to whose maternal care our province is dedicated. Sr Roshel the Asst Provincial Superior welcomed the sisters with a joyous song of gladness. Sr Cicilia Mendonca the Provincial Superior and the President of the function in her keynote address recalled with gratitude the cooperation received from every sister of the Province.
One of the rare events of the day was the release of the Book ‘Amrat thujha hathi’ second edition authored by Rev Sr Agenesia BS. Sr Cicilia Mendonca released the book and she was honoured by Sr Lillita the General councillor.
Quoting Pope Francis she spoke about the 4 pillars needed for a healthy religious life. Namely: Relationship with God, Relationship with the members of the community, Relationship with the people in our mission and integrated simple life.
Rev Sr Lillita BS the General Councillor was the resource person who elaborated the ‘fiat of Mary’ and called on the gathering to surrender our will to the Lord and allow him to take over our life. Fr Dian Vas SJ the Rector of St Aloysius College officiated the Eucharistic celebration.
Fr Rohit, Asst Director of SJEC concelebrated the Eucharist. Colourful cultural programme was arranged. Province day 2016 was indeed a memorable day. It marked the presence of all the former provincial superiors namely Sr Virgina, Sr Christella, Sr Inviolatha & Sr Mariette. Indeed ‘Province Day 2016’ was a red letter day for the Sisters of Mangalore Province.
